I want to Tweet your Blood…
On March 3rd, SMC will team up with Blood Centers of the Pacific for the first San Francisco Blood Drive Tweetup. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments encouraged! To register as a donor, visit bloodheroes.com, click “Donate Blood” and use the sponsor code “Tweetup.” If you have not donated with BCOP before, it will ask you to set up a new login that asks for name, date of birth and email address. Then you can select the appointment.
Then join us at the Elephant and Castle at 424 Clay Street from 4-8 pm to hang out, save lives and claim your free post-donation burger.
We are also looking for volunteers for the big day, so if you can chip in a few hours let Kristie know by sending an email to kristie [at] socialmediaclub [dot [org].

[...] Case in point: The phlebotimists at Blood Centers of the Pacific and the Social Media Club are hosting a Tweetup on Tuesday, March 3rd at the Elephant and Castle pub in downtown San Francisco. Anyone [...]
Right now my sister Debby Greer-Costello is in a pulmonary therapy clinic in Houston after undergoing treatment for leukemia for the second time. The first time she had leukemia, she had 23 blood transfusions and 13 bags of platelets.
I organized the Austin Blood Drive Tweetup because I wanted to show her that people cared about people like her. People cared so much, we doubled a local blood bank’s traffic in three days.
For anyone attending this, I pledge my 100% support to you. I know giving blood can be scary, but the recipient of that blood is so much more scared than you are. You have the ability to give them life. That is awesome. So this offer stands to everyone involved:

Thank you, San Francisco!
Hey San Fran. I hope your event is as fun as this was! Keep kicking ass.

Thanks!
This is a great thing to do and, as one of those folks Michelle and David recruited here in Austin, I can attest to the very real benefit it provides to donor and recipients. You’re great.
PLEASE come to this event with a good meal on board well before the drive, lots of juices or water, and a picture ID. I’m one of the nurses who will greet you and interview you before you actually donate. As well PLEASE avoid alcoholic beverages AFTER donation.
Hope to see many healthy, hydrated donors @ Elephant & Castle
