The Future of Local Media - A Social Media Club Cafe

On Wednesday April 4, 2007, approximately 40 citizens from Silicon Valley gathered at the NBC 11 studios for a world cafe to discuss the Future of Local Media. This was the kickoff event for our Silicon Valley group, which is being lead by Mike McGrath and Meredith Smith. There are 4 parts of the evening's conversation included in this 67 minute podcast. After about 22 minutes of introductory remarks and a 5 minute 'talk' from Chris Heuer, we had a 'table host' report back to the rest of the room on what was discussed at each of the tables during the first and second rounds of conversation. The final round was a 'popcorn' round where individual participants were able to 'pop' up with any questions they had that they wanted to share. It is clear from this conversation that there is a lot we still need to figure out - after this evening, I am more hopeful than ever that we can find a way forward together…
