Shel, I don't mean to imply any dark motives, nor any criticism of Scrapbook per se. And I certainly don't mean to disparage open dialog about new ideas and products. Maybe I was just too sour this morning and too quick to lump a morning's worth of reading into a single post.

I guess I just feel like the digerati live in an echo chamber of our own making. Maybe I'm excessively sensitive to that, and too quick to respond when I think I hear too much resounding.

I'm a member of the Scrapblog team as well as an advosor to the Social media Club. When the product was made available to bloggers, I emailed the link to a bunch of my blogging friends, saying that a little link love wouldbe nice. Does that make me a "meme maker," as you seem to be labeling me? It sounds so manipulative and onerous.

Second, if you think Scrapblog is in the same category as Photobucket, I would argue that you have just about a complete misunderstanding of Scrapblog, which is an online multimedia toolset, letting you creatively aggregate your digital properties from place like YouTube, Flickr, and yes Photbucket. All the blog noise is coming from people who like to kick the tires of new products. I asked them o take a quick look and let us know if it's ready to go live. Most people who tried it, liked it. Some have pointed out problems. Fr example, it is having problems on Wordpress. The team will try to solve that before Scrapblog goes live and public.

We are using the blogosphere in a way that is legitimate in the eyes of nearly everyone. We are collaborating with bloggers in order to build a better product. I respect you as a writer, but in this particular case, I resent your dark implication that something smarmi is going on.
